Who We Are

I am a wildlife biologist and an environmental educator. I have spent the better part of the last 50 years working in the field of conservation and natural resource management. I have worked with Neighborhood Associations, as well as community, state, and federal government leaders. I have served in leadership positions for several local, national, and international conservation organizations.

I created The Dodson Group, LLC as a business to write, produce, and distribute conservation and sustainability-related materials in my continuing quest to encourage people to become more directly connected with nature and engaged in sustainable nature resource management.

In addition to The Dodson Group, I also manage an additional website and blog called The Nature of Things on the website rgdodson.com  Through The Nature of Things I write about my travels, hikes and experiences in nature, and through the written word and pictures it is my hope to inspire readers to get outdoors, enjoy nature, and adopt a conservation lifestyle.

If you have specific questions about conservation lifestyles or a question or two about a specific location that I have visited, please send me a message, or leave a comment on the blog The Nature of Things. Also, I hope you will join our  Nature of Things Group on Facebook where you can share your own nature pictures and short stories about places where you have explored.

I have also created The Conservation Company as a primary way of generating funds to support my various conservation and environmental education projects and to keep “stuff” out of our country’s landfills. I also contribute all proceeds generated via The Conservation Company to various conservation and historic preservations groups.

Finally, during my working life, as a wildlife biologist, author, and entrepreneur I served as President of the Henderson, Kentucky Audubon Society, the President of the Kentucky Audubon Society, the Northeast  Regional Representative of the National Audubon Society, and the President and CEO of the Audubon Society of New York State (AKA Audubon International). I am now continuing my environmental mission through The Dodson Group and The Nature of Things. But, I am also documenting my years of involvement with one Audubon organization or another through a blog called My Audubon Adventures that I invite you to visit. My Audubon Adventures is presently a blog, but I have plans to publish a memoir by the same title in the coming years.
